Minardo assigning time and place to cellular events to reveal biology

Inspired by Charles Minard’s map of Napoleon’s march on Russia and his handling of six dimensions of data, we developed the novel layout strategy Minardo to address key issues of visualising multivariate datasets. It describes biological processes at different points in time and space in a two-dimensional layout. By assigning a time point and a subcellular location to each event, we helped the researchers gain new biological insights.
